Position: Senior Designer (one-year contract with possibility of permanency)

Our client, a well-known ladies manufacturer, is currently seeking a design visionary that can dream up big but have one foot planted firmly on the ground. Ideal candidate will have experience in all aspects of design for knitwear (50% + ) denim and outerwear (50% combined) from development to production and will conceptualize and launch new product categories from scratch.

Duties may include but not limited to

• Manage, motivate and lead a team of 3 product developers
• Concept development and market research on fabrics, colors and shapes; anticipate designs that will appeal to customers
• Create technical flats, design sheets and colored storyboards
• Explore and evaluate new trends for fashion and graphics
• Work cross-functionally with Import and Planning departments to meet goals and objectives
• Responsible for selecting fabrics (including testing), trims, assisting with packaging
• Enhance garments and adds value through styling details
• Work with production and merchandising to ensure customer expectation and business criteria adherence
• Work with patternmakers and attend fittings
• Review, comment and track all approvals for specs and fabrics
• Present seasonal designs to sales teams
• Supervise, maintain and direct sample production and ensure deadlines are honored
• Achieve all key financial seasonal budget objectives

The necessities    

• 6-8 years of extensive experience in ladieswear (knitwear, denim and outerwear)
• Fashion Design certification
• Excellent sense of market trends and colors
• Must have a deep understanding of construction, fabrications, import and buying; textile structure
• Efficient working independently
• Strong proficiencies in Illustrator and Photoshop
• Able to organize and prioritize workload with direct report to meet deadlines
• Must be driven and energetic; a strong flair for fashion
