About the Role: We are seeking a designer to lead the design process from concept to production for their premium cycling, running, and accessories lines. You will ensure high-quality products that align with brand standards, cost targets, and seasonal timelines. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, organized, and thrives in a fast-paced environment, managing tight deadlines while coordinating effectively with both internal teams and external vendors to bring innovative, high-performance gear to market.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Development & Execution:
- Manage the end-to-end product development process, ensuring designs are translated into commercially viable products.
- Track industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging market insights to drive product development strategies and ensure our products remain competitive.
- Collaborate closely with Design, Merchandising, and Production teams to meet brand, aesthetic, and performance goals.
- Oversee material selection, garment construction, and fit approvals to ensure product integrity and quality.
- Source fabrics and trims to ensure they meet product requirements, brand standards, and cost targets.
- Lab dip approvals
Style Management:
- Work closely with Technical Design to refine fit, grading, and construction details.
- Participate in fit sessions and provide clear, actionable feedback to factories.
- Maintain and update tech packs with accurate specifications, construction details, and BOMs.
Production Processes & Supply Chain Coordination:
- Strong understanding of production processes and manufacturing timelines, particularly in Asia.
- Monitor development calendars in collaboration with PM, proactively identifying and resolving potential delays.
Competitor & Market Trends Analysis:
- Conduct competitor analysis regularly to identify market opportunities and product gaps.
- Stay informed on industry trends, consumer behavior, and market shifts to drive innovation in product offerings.
- Ensure that products align with consumer demand while differentiating from competitors' offerings in the market.
PLM & Data Management:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date product information in PLM and ERP systems.
- Track sample status, approvals, and changes throughout the development cycle.
Ideal Candidate:
- 3+ years of experience in apparel product development, preferably within sports brands. Plus for experience with hard goods (helmets, shoes, bottles, etc).
- Strong knowledge of garment construction, fit, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience in sourcing fabrics and trims, with an understanding of supplier relationships and material selection.
- Comfortable working under tight deadlines while maintaining strong attention to detail and organization.
- Experience working with overseas factories (Asia preferred).
- Clear, effective communicator with both internal cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Proficiency in PLM and ERP systems, as well as Adobe Illustrator and Excel.
