Job Description:

What could be more exciting than putting your mark on some of the world’s most famous and well-loved fashion brands? We are looking for a Directeur en Design to join our growing team in Montreal, for a one year contract, for a maternity leave replacement.

 

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design for Men’s sportswear commodities
  • Lead a team of Designers and Graphic designer to build each seasons collections
  • Build a cohesive assortment and ensure each product delivers on brand aesthetic
  • Researches and identifies fabric, yarn and trim trends
  • Travels to relevant markets and retail landscapes to identify research appropriate style development  
  • Research, online, trend services, retail, and prepares Mood presentation boards
  • Interprets business sales trends and incorporates for the upcoming season
  • In partnership with the design team creates style concept boards for each area of responsibility, showing silhouette and color, fabric, print and pattern
  • Identify product opportunities  to capitalize on opportunities
  • Partner with sourcing to build-out product that fits our quality and costing targets
  • Lead fit sessions in partnership with tech team
  • Partner with graphic designer to development screen prints, plaids and all over prints
  • Collaborate with Brand owners on packaging requirements  
  • Help guide Designers to create detailed technical drawings and color cads using Adobe Illustrator.
  • Review all sample comments, fabric/lab dips approval with Designers
  • Ensure all design timelines are met and product is on track meeting calendar deadlines
  • Knowledge of creating styles and tech packs in PLM.

 

DO YOU HAVE THE PROFILE WE'RE LOOKING FOR?

  • Bachelor’s degree in fashion, or college degree in fashion design
  • 8+ years of related experience in Men's apparel design
  • Excellent understanding of the contemporary and lifestyle markets on a global scale
  • Excellent understanding knits, wovens sweaters, bottoms and light weight outerwear
  • A dedication to quality and sustainability
  • Ability to take ownership and be accountable
  • Ability to take direction and be coachable and adaptable
  • Ability to inspire and confidently campaign for ideas and proposals
  • Thorough understanding apparel constructions, materials, costing and processes
  • Highly motivated, Creative and Enthusiastic
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Ability to collaborate strategically with cross-functional partners and drive towards shared success and outcomes
  • Hands-on experience leading teams and developing design talent
  • Strong proficiency of MS Office Suite
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
  • Knowledge of PLM is an asset
  • Experience in creating technical drawings.
